It was a Quick Decision . . .

It was a quick decision! I had been watching the cherry blossom reports coming out of Washington, D.C., and it looked like today would be the best day to photograph this famous area.

So, what did I do?

Why? I took the day off and quickly headed to Washington, D.C., in the early morning hours.

My goal?

To reach the tidal pool with all the flowering cherry blossoms before sunrise.

The clouds in the sky hinted at a colorful sunrise, but with clouds at the horizon, I didn't hold out much hope.

I stood among the cherry blossoms, with a clear view of the Jefferson Memorial across the tidal pool, and waited for daybreak.

It was chilly, even though it was Spring. The early morning chill sent shivers through me as I waited to see if the sky would light up at all or stay gray.

Suddenly, I began to see hints of color as the sun rose, lit up the underside of the clouds for just a few minutes.

I was ready, and I captured this photograph of the sunrise at the tidal pool with the Jefferson Memorial in the background.

I took many photographs that morning, but this is my favorite. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Peace!
